Hi, I’m Diane. I’m a woman in mid-life but not in crisis – I’d like to think that, like a good wine, I’m improving with age…
…I’m married with two adult children and a recently acquired son-in-law. I dig cats and, though we’ve never had more than two at once, my family calls me “crazy cat lady”. When we’re not working, my husband and I enjoy the outdoors. We love spending time with family and friends, and that often centers around sharing a meal (or a good bottle of wine and some nibbles!). During the northeast growing season, I spend a lot of time browsing around farmer’s markets and farm stands since we enjoy cooking with fresh, high quality ingredients.
When it comes to medications and supplements, I prefer to take as few chemicals as possible. I have to take blood pressure medication, but try to manage other things more naturally. I am a huge fan of ginger, tea tree oil, eucalyptus, hot compresses, neti pot, hot toddies, etc. I have only recently begun delving into supplements. My doctor has been telling me for years to take a multivitamin, but I’ve never been able to get into a regular routine. My biggest challenge is that I don’t like taking large pills, so I dread taking them…
I’ve tried some gummy supplements, but learned that so many of them are chock full of sugar, artificial colors/flavors, and other chemicals. When I heard MegaFood was looking for consumer panelists for their new line of gummy supplements, I jumped at the chance to apply and was very excited to be selected!
After touring the MegaFood facility as a Project Gummy Bare All consumer panelist, I saw how their supplements are made – with real fruits and vegetables, and a lot of care and commitment to quality. My experience as a panelist is shaping my outlook on supplements. Before, I’d buy the cheapest brand and not read the labels. I assumed all supplements were alike – magnesium is magnesium, right? Now, I find myself reading labels carefully. I’ve been selecting supplements made from food sources, and am now regularly taking a set of supplements intended to address some of my “growing-up pains” (e.g., Turmeric for Joint) and my overall health and well-being (e.g., Multi for Women). In spite of my large tablet aversion, I’m now motivated and actually sticking to it.
I will look forward to eating them instead of dutifully taking them.
That said, I’m really looking forward to swapping out the small pile of tablets I now take every day for some good-for-me MegaFood gummy supplements, made from organic and natural food-based ingredients. For me, the primary benefit will be a significant change in my “consumer experience”, and I mean that in terms of actual consumption of the supplements. Although I’m in a routine now, it’s a chore versus an experience – I do it because I know it’s good for me, but I don’t enjoy it. With gummy supplements, I will look forward to eating them instead of dutifully taking them. The eating versus taking is, I think, a key distinction – I enjoy eating good, healthy food and experiencing the look, aromas, tastes, and mouthfeel; I currently do not enjoy taking good, healthy supplements. The products of MegaFood’s Project Gummy Bare All will be good-for-you, good-tasting gummy supplements that I can enjoy eating, with wonderful healthy food flavors. Now that will be a great way to kickstart each day!
