Learning and Development Specialist

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS:
 

This highly visible, hands-on position will work collaboratively with the Leadership Team and subject matter experts to deliver transformational learning experiences to all levels of the organization with a focus on developing leadership capabilities. This position will be responsible for programmatic and consultative work associated with leadership development content and programs. This includes consulting with executive team members and employees to assess learning needs, employee readiness and performance gaps to develop strategies that align with FoodState’s business goals and objectives. This position is responsible for managing communication and execution of training initiatives and programs, reserving training space, ordering necessary supplies, room set up and break down, and material inventory and preparation. This position will also be responsible for the execution of FoodState’s formal new employee onboarding program.  This position is responsible to ensure the highest quality plans are developed and implemented that are aligned with the talent needs of the business, linked to FoodState’s key competencies, and values the cultural framework of FoodState.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Identify, design and manage targeted talent development programs, tools and processes that enhance the capability of key leaders for the entire organization.
  • Collaborate with the the Executive Leadership team to develop a succession planning model for FoodState.
  • Identify a custom FoodState portfolio of development experiences and tools for senior leaders, hi-potentials and developing managers/leaders, and tracks participation and impact of those for accelerating development.
  • Support FoodState’s Learning Management System (LMS), rollout,  design, content, and metrics.
  • Conduct organizational needs assessments to determine knowledge and skills gaps.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop an overall training plan to help resolve identified skills gaps and topical training initiatives (Onboarding, Asana, Expensify, sales tools) within the company.
  • Implement metrics and analytics that effectively measure, benchmark and monitor the learning and development impact to the organization.
  • Work with external educators, vendors and consultants when necessary, and negotiate cost-effective solutions.
  • Stay abreast of latest developments in management, leadership, and organizational development areas to serve as subject matter expert and internal consultant regarding critical people issues, team effectiveness, change management, employee engagement and cultural transformation.
  • Ensure that the company’s performance management system is a tool that encourages ownership of employee development opportunities and identifies essential  competency needs by employee role/leadership level.
  • Keep current on effective training delivery and/or curriculum development techniques.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • L&D EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 4 - 6 years in learning & development roles in a dynamic environment– including true ownership and execution of design, development, execution and measurement
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Planning and executing learning and development initiatives/events – managing multiple projects at once and thriving with both long term planning and immediate needs
  • PRODUCING RESULTS: Moving from ideas to action quickly and constantly moving things forward
  • USING TECHNOLOGY: Comfortable with basic productivity software (MS Office, Google Apps, Asana), Learning Management Systems (Cornerstone is a plus!) and platforms (online, mobile, social, etc), webinar/video conferencing tools

Strategic Account Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS:

In this new role, the Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for the oversight, leadership and development of FoodState’s national distribution for both the MegaFood and INNATE Response brands in the practitioner channel.   The successful leader will strategize with our sales team, act as a practitioner channel expert and collaborate in developing our brand and go-to-market strategies.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Director of Research and Development

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Direct projects and a Research and Development Team while ensuring that FoodState’s meets its objectives for researching and developing new products and improving existing products.  Ensure that projects and products meet customer demands and contribute to FoodState’s revenue growth.

  • Direct the Research and Development (R&D) team, from new product proposal to commercialization.

Utilizes USP or established methods to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze routine substances.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Prepares chemical reagents needed to perform routine testing. 
  • Conducts ordering and stocking of laboratory supplies.
  • Provides assistance with chemical tracking and disposal. 
  • Recommends new and replacement supplies and equipment necessary to meet client requests and quality objectives.

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  •  1 – 2 years laboratory experience.

  • Performs regular inspection and repair of all electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operations manuals.
  • Complies with the industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintains all records of the repair and maintenance work conducted.
  • Manages time effectively and meets all specified deadlines.
  • Assists in snow removal.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Trade school preferred.

  • Ensures the department is running within company policies and procedures. 
  • Reviews and seeks methods to improve and increase productivity while minimizing waste. 
  • Reviews, updates and documents all departmental processes and SOP's, including trouble-shooting, safety, and preventive maintenance methods.

Materials Planning Manager

Primary Purpose and Functions:

Manages the materials planning department and oversees the procurement of raw materials, supplies, services and equipment.  Develop procurement strategies for the acquisition of raw materials and supplies at FoodState.

Essential Job Functions/Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for all raw material planning and procurement activities supporting manufacturing
  • Ensures materials are available to meet production schedules.
  • Maintains adequate levels of material in support of the manufacturing organization while adhering to inventory objectives.
  • Ensure Materials Requirements Planning system (MRP) is maintained commensurate with the Master Production Schedule.
  • Insures compliance with all applicable requirements and procedures.
  • Develop strategies for maintaining supply of raw materials at lowest cost with least business risk (safety stock, consignment, VMI, lead times, order qty’s, etc.).  
  • Establish, build, and maintain relationships with all key suppliers.
  • Analyze and recommend solutions for all issues relating to supplier’s performance based on quality, delivery, price, and overall effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Review and resolve any discrepancies with supplier invoices, grievances, claims, conflicts, product non-conformance or quality issues.
  • Create and implement tools such as KPI’s, scorecards and roadmaps to achieve targets.
  • Provide raw material projections to key suppliers/sourcers to ensure product availability on a timely basis.
  • Provide the Numbers Team with periodic raw material costs to assist in maintaining product costing, and projected raw material and finished goods costs.
  • In conjunction with sourcing, arrange supplier meetings to review business needs and resolve any problems or issues as needed.
  • Communicate all pertinent issues and concerns regarding suppliers, raw materials, and finished goods to all appropriate staff.
  • Assist in creating and maintain accountability for department budget.
  • Develop and maintain supply chain partnerships with key suppliers
  • Manage process for understanding business risk related to purchased parts and implement plans to mitigate high risk areas.
  • Manage the resources of the procurement department and all personnel related issues.
  • Create purchase orders for raw materials in support of ongoing operations and projects. Coordinate order confirmations, monitor deliveries delivery dates. Expedite POs when necessary.
  • Manage administrative, order related tasks, e.g. order process for return shipments, reconciliations for mismatching quantities on invoices, missing shipping documents, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor Degree preferred in related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-10 years of related materials planning and procurement experience preferably in the food or nutrient processing/manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team; strong communication skills; excellent customer service skills; and the ability to apply strong sound business judgement.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data, prepare reports and present information to groups.
  • Excellent time management, project management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Strong computer skills specifically with Google apps, MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems as well as experience with an ERP system and/or ERP implementations. Experience with NAV would be a plus.
  • Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spending while developing a robust supplier base.
  • Ability to maintain a continuously changing list of urgent priorities.

Product Development Specialist

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS:

The Product Development Specialist will be a vital member of the Brand and cross-functional product team. Reporting to  the Director of Product Strategy, this position’s. primary responsibility will be to support the facilitation and completion of market research and development  Team to conduct analysis of market, category, competitive environment, trends and consumer preferences for application to the development of FoodState nutrients and supplements.  Works closely with members of the Brand, to create business cases, project scopes and critical new product documentations for executive approval and cross-functional team direction.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Research new product concepts and assist in building  business cases to support 18 month pipeline and brand strategic plans.  

  • Collaborate with New Product  team to ensure new products/ingredients meet brand pillars and quality requirements from ideation to finished product.

  • Track KPIs for new product performance against business case. Conduct post-launch autopsy to evaluate/improve internal processes, product experience, forecast accuracy, quality and overall market response. KPI monthly tracking for the first 18 months of a product life and generate reports for monthly FoodState leadership meetings.

  • Coordinate the development preliminary and working forecasts to support business cases and operational commercialization. Collaborate with Innate Response team in the initial creative development process of brand messaging, artwork, product content, positioning and educational materials.  

  • Quarterly evaluation and reporting of product sales to identify where products/category performance is relative to market place and product life cycle.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Natural products industry experience with speciality in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals or functional foods is preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in product development or new product marketing plan/execution.

  • Understands best practices in labeling and marketing of Dietary Supplements under FDA guidelines, DSHEA and 3rd party certifications including Non-GMO and Certified Organic.

  • Established track record and proficiency in bringing new products  to market.

  • Strong verbal communication, analytical and writing skills.

  • Project management and proven ability to oversee and execute on several projects concurrently.

  • Proficient in qualitative and quantitative analysis of product sales, market trends and consumer preferences.

  • English comprehension and composition, spelling, grammar and punctuation to edit final outputs.

Sales Coordinator

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

As part of the INNATE Response Team, the Sales Coordinator performs various administrative functions including compilng and creating sales reports. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Builds and maintains tracking documents for sales related activities.
  • Lead the monthly buy plan process with strategic accounts from data collection to final order logistics and timing.
  • Develops and maintains key account plans for Strategic Accounts.
  • Generates ad-hoc reporting as requested by Director of Strategic Accounts.
  • Monitor and report on all compliance, including but not limited to MAP, Brand Protection and FBA enforcement.  
  • Work with Strategic Partner to file and enforce INNATE Respons's iMAP policies.
  • Provides daily, weekly and monthly tracking of iMAP compliance.
  • Implementation of marketing and promotional activities with Strategic Accounts while adhering to agreed upon strategic plans and timelines.
  • Support the  introduction of new product launches with necessary documentation and required materials.
  • Coordination of monthly promotional related activities including and not limited to coupons, promos, and sales spiffs.
  • Addresses customer concerns related to orders, logistics, quality and product related questions.
  • Work with Strategic Accounts to plan meetings including tours and brand related activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Intermediate Excel experience including VLookup and Pivot Tables.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintains Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Administration Product Manufacturing facilities by adhering to the documentation structure to provide cGMP compliance.
  • Manages Organic Administration support Certifications, Kosher certification and Canadian Registration
  • Manages Internal Audit Program and conduct cGMP audits on all manufacturing and support processes.
  • Assists manufacturing in preparing for Regulatory Audits including conducting internal audits to identify non-compliance conditions and resolve problems prior to the audit. Ensure corrective actions are effective
  • Performs Mock-Recall audit - Choose representative product and follow all interim inventories from raw material, bulk & finished product through the manufacturing facility and finally to the ultimate customer with available shipping data/contacts for each shipment
  • Conducts investigation into non-conformances identified through the customer complaint program and prepare final reports
  • Manages Customer Complaint process including ensuring that corrective actions are timely, complete and effective.
  • Conducts specification and label reference review for new or changed labels.
  • Conducts data analysis and experiments to analyze trends and improve performance of manufacturing processes
  • Prepares pre-audit documentation and participate in customer audits as appropriate
  • Prepares corrective action plan and track completion of activities
  • Perform Supplier Qualification Audits as necessary
  • Perform duties of the FDA Recall Coordinator
  • Lead a HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) multidisciplinary team to provide a preventive approach to food safety.
  • Manages people within the Quality Assurance organization to achieve goals that maximize our effectiveness and achieve our quality vision.
  • Manages a CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) program to provide root cause analysis in reducing the amount of non-conformances in the Operations group.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Education/Experience:  Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years related experience in Quality systems and Management.

Language Ability:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

  • Digs deeply into the data to find patterns and areas for improvements.
  • Synthesizes insight that allows for improved performance, best practice development, resulting in the optimization of Sales Operations as a resource to the company.
  • Through analysis, trending, and comparison to industry and peer benchmarks, diagnoses areas of focus related to Sales performance.
  • With the Sales Operations Leader, creates a forum and a cadence for a collaborative review of results and driving performance measures to Sales Leaders.
  • Ensures adequacy and accuracy of reporting by applying business knowledge and data analysis.

  • Manage SPINS and Nielsen data mining and reporting.
