Learning and Development Specialist

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS:
 

This highly visible, hands-on position will work collaboratively with the Leadership Team and subject matter experts to deliver transformational learning experiences to all levels of the organization with a focus on developing leadership capabilities. This position will be responsible for programmatic and consultative work associated with leadership development content and programs. This includes consulting with executive team members and employees to assess learning needs, employee readiness and performance gaps to develop strategies that align with MegaFood's business goals and objectives. This position is responsible for managing communication and execution of training initiatives and programs, reserving training space, ordering necessary supplies, room set up and break down, and material inventory and preparation. This position will also be responsible for the execution of MegaFood's formal new employee onboarding program.  This position is responsible to ensure the highest quality plans are developed and implemented that are aligned with the talent needs of the business, linked to MegaFood's key competencies, and values the cultural framework of MegaFood.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Identify, design and manage targeted talent development programs, tools and processes that enhance the capability of key leaders for the entire organization.
  • Collaborate with the the Executive Leadership team to develop a succession planning model for MegaFood.
  • Identify a custom MegaFood portfolio of development experiences and tools for senior leaders, hi-potentials and developing managers/leaders, and tracks participation and impact of those for accelerating development.
  • Support MegaFood's Learning Management System (LMS), rollout,  design, content, and metrics.
  • Conduct organizational needs assessments to determine knowledge and skills gaps.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop an overall training plan to help resolve identified skills gaps and topical training initiatives (Onboarding, Asana, Expensify, sales tools) within the company.
  • Implement metrics and analytics that effectively measure, benchmark and monitor the learning and development impact to the organization.
  • Work with external educators, vendors and consultants when necessary, and negotiate cost-effective solutions.
  • Stay abreast of latest developments in management, leadership, and organizational development areas to serve as subject matter expert and internal consultant regarding critical people issues, team effectiveness, change management, employee engagement and cultural transformation.
  • Ensure that the company’s performance management system is a tool that encourages ownership of employee development opportunities and identifies essential  competency needs by employee role/leadership level.
  • Keep current on effective training delivery and/or curriculum development techniques.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • L&D EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 4 - 6 years in learning & development roles in a dynamic environment– including true ownership and execution of design, development, execution and measurement
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Planning and executing learning and development initiatives/events – managing multiple projects at once and thriving with both long term planning and immediate needs
  • PRODUCING RESULTS: Moving from ideas to action quickly and constantly moving things forward
  • USING TECHNOLOGY: Comfortable with basic productivity software (MS Office, Google Apps, Asana), Learning Management Systems (Cornerstone is a plus!) and platforms (online, mobile, social, etc), webinar/video conferencing tools
  • DETAIL ORIENTATION: Relentless quality control (grammar, voice, accuracy) and design application (branding, style aesthetics) in content and experiences

  • Ensures the upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of all areas of the facility.
  • Performs regular inspection and repair of all electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operations manuals.
  • Complies with the industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintains all records of the repair and maintenance work conducted.
  • Manages time effectively and meets all specified deadlines.
  • Assists in snow removal.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Trade school preferred.
  • 2-4 years of related work experience.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., crouch, stoop, bend, climb up ladders and stairs and perform work over head.

Performs routine release testing on finished goods

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

• Tracks and releases finished goods
• Maintains both hard copy and electronic files
• Tracks and release raw materials
• Maintains retain samples for finished goods and raw materials
• Verifies changes on new labels
• Inspects finished labels from label suppliers
• Conducts audits on bottling line and all the manufacturing processes

Responsible for day-to-day regulatory functions including dietary supplement labeling and marketing material review, claim substantiation and international export support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulations and policies as they relate to dietary supplements and assure compliance with these requirements.
  • Assure regulatory compliance of all Marketing materials including, promotional materials and labeling.
  • Responsible for reviewing dietary supplement product labels and labeling including marketing materials for regulatory compliance.
  • Keep abreast of industry changes relating to advertising and promotion
  • Work closely with legal counsel to understand and interpret new guidance and interpretation and communicate positions to Leadership Team

Director of Product Strategy

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS:

MegaFood has recorded strong growth over the past 5 years by adding successful new products and expanding our overall product portfolio in the Natural retail space. To continue to drive this growth, the company is seeking a strong Director of Product Strategy, reporting into the VP of Marketing.

This role will be responsible for leading the company’s overall new product innovation and renovation efforts as we seek to expand into new categories and platforms where the MegaFood brand promise and philosophy can access and dominate share.

This role will interact with the executive team and work closely with cross-functional teams to vet ideas, develop the working pipeline and product strategy for our brands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Identify, design and launch product solutions to support business growth for MegaFood brands by channel with a 3-5 year view.
  • Lead business case development for all new product concepts and drive execution of all projects through the Stage Gate process with the Project Management team.
  • Responsible for achieving MegaFood annual operating objectives for new product revenue and profitability goals. Lead in tracking key KPI for new product performance.
  • Actively manages MegaFood 5 Year Pipeline, with key stakeholders, to keep it up-to-date, full, and relevant to business strategy. Enlists support for the vision through leadership, influence, and negotiation with internal stakeholders.
  • Managing and providing competitive intelligence impacting brand and channel customer base, retail environment, and product trends.  Define market opportunity for products by channel.
  • Identify and understand key consumer trends and market drivers.  Predict and anticipate future trends in the marketplace with long-term outlook and shapes product strategy to align with those trends.
  • Leverage insights for influencing strategic direction of company and businesses; be the voice of product strategy and creating robust ideas/improvements.
  • Lead competitive assessments, competitor profiles, market assessments.
  • Collaborate with Brand team leaders to develop and execute consumer/product market research efforts with an aim of supporting fact-based decision making.
  • Collaborate with Project Management team to facilitate active projects through the stage gate process from concept through to post-mortem audit.
  • Actively seek market and solution input from Sales, Brand, R&D, and other stakeholders to support product strategy. Ensure strategy aligns with company vision and core values.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 8-10 years of directly related experience and an undergraduate degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing diverse teams, with the ability to direct, motivate, interact, monitor, and resolve any personnel issues.
  • Knowledge of supplement or food manufacturing as well as familiar with cGMP’s, organic, non-GMO and other purity standards.
  • Strong leadership and business acumen required.
  • Must be detailed oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A strong grasp of the Stage Gate process and how it can be used for maximum efficiency.
  • Solid experience working with co-manufacturing partners.
  • Proven track record of successful product launches developed under his/her responsibility.

Utilizes USP or established methods to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze routine substances.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Prepares chemical reagents needed to perform routine testing. 
  • Conducts ordering and stocking of laboratory supplies.
  • Provides assistance with chemical tracking and disposal. 
  • Recommends new and replacement supplies and equipment necessary to meet client requests and quality objectives.  

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  •  1 – 2 years laboratory experience. 
  • The ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize and plan multiple work activities with varying deadlines and complexities. 
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.  
  • A working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, procedures, and instrumentation used in a chemistry laboratory.
  • A working knowledge of MicroSoft Office products.

Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining quality assurance standards and processes. Manages quality improvement activities. Creates common business specific quality measurements and track improvement against these metrics. Works cross-departmentally to assist with ongoing projects. Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintains Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Administration Product Manufacturing facilities by adhering to the documentation structure to provide cGMP compliance.
  • Manages Organic Administration support Certifications, Kosher certification and Canadian Registration
  • Manages Internal Audit Program and conduct cGMP audits on all manufacturing and support processes.
  • Assists manufacturing in preparing for Regulatory Audits including conducting internal audits to identify non-compliance conditions and resolve problems prior to the audit. Ensure corrective actions are effective
  • Performs Mock-Recall audit - Choose representative product and follow all interim inventories from raw material, bulk & finished product through the manufacturing facility and finally to the ultimate customer with available shipping data/contacts for each shipment
  • Conducts investigation into non-conformances identified through the customer complaint program and prepare final reports
  • Manages Customer Complaint process including ensuring that corrective actions are timely, complete and effective.
  • Conducts specification and label reference review for new or changed labels.
  • Conducts data analysis and experiments to analyze trends and improve performance of manufacturing processes
  • Prepares pre-audit documentation and participate in customer audits as appropriate
  • Prepares corrective action plan and track completion of activities
  • Perform Supplier Qualification Audits as necessary
  • Perform duties of the FDA Recall Coordinator
  • Lead a HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) multidisciplinary team to provide a preventive approach to food safety.
  • Manages people within the Quality Assurance organization to achieve goals that maximize our effectiveness and achieve our quality vision.
  • Manages a CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) program to provide root cause analysis in reducing the amount of non-conformances in the Operations group.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years related experience in Quality systems and Management.

Language Ability:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Math Ability:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with annual and quarterly forecasting
  • Analyze financial data by collecting, monitoring and creating financial models 
  • Responsible for monthly reporting of results including variance explanation and research
  • Field ad-hoc accounting inquiries from business partners including providing technical accounting guidance

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8-10 years experience as an Accountant and Financial Analyst 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls and GAAP accounting
  • Must be goal and deadline oriented
  • Must have the ability to independently organize and prioritize workload within a fast-paced environment with a commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS:

This position will be responsible for all facets of work in the raw material warehouse, including, but not limited to: physical and systematic raw material movements, inbound and outbound material movements and supporting the manufacturing departments.  This position will also support the Inventory Control team by performing cycle counts of our products, researching inventory variances, and entering adjustments in the perpetual inventory, all while respecting company system transaction policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Build raw material kits for Manufacturing departments
  • Perform daily cycle counts, entering necessary inventory adjustments in the perpetual inventory system
  • Check received items against packing list and record discrepancies
  • Data entry of receipts, stockroom, and shipped items
  • Document incoming and outgoing material and supplies
  • Must follow prescribed procedures for safeguarding, storage, handing and accounting for item and material designated as classified, restricted, special project, or high priority
  • Follows and comprehends written instructions/requests
  • Communicates inventory concerns with Inventory Control, Fulfillment, Production Planning & Manufacturing departments
  • Assists in monthly and year end physical inventory activities
  • Contributes to the company’s and department’s Safety goals and initiatives by following all company safety policies and practices while effectively communicating any concerns

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
 

  • Knowledge of plant operations (manufacturing & maintenance), as well as, familiar with cGMP’s and safety regulations

Director of Quality

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Set the strategic direction for all Quality functions including organization, administration and management.  Responsibilities include ensuring the company’s products are manufactured in a manner that is consistent with applicable cGMPs and meet all relevant quality standards, including the company’s own high quality standards. Leading and overseeing the company’s Analytical Lab, managing the company’s quality control and assurance programs, and establishing and maintaining appropriate Quality processes, policies and standard operating procedures to achieve the company’s objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop organizational structure and fostering talent management, including performance and succession planning.
  • Create a dynamic work environment that supports an innovative, efficient and flexible organization.

  • Develop departmental expertise with respect to testing and documentation

  • Develop and coordinate the Quality Control laboratory activities and capabilities to provide timely, accurate and GLP/cGMP compliant testing of raw materials, in-process materials, bulk and contract manufactured materials.
  • Guide the Quality Control team to ensure the company has robust product stability programs for domestic and international products.
  • Oversee the approval of all specifications, procedures and formulas that impact the strength, quality, purity, and efficacy of manufactured and contract-manufactured products.
  • Ensures the proper investigation into the root cause of product and/or process failures, and assists in determining appropriate product disposition and/or process improvements.
  • Ensures any external laboratories used by the company comply with GLP standards.
  • Interfaces with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Manufacturing and R&D teams to help ensure the successful launch of new products.
  • Collaborates with R&D and/or outside contract labs to ensure seamless method validation and transfer.
  • Establishes and manages the Quality budget and provides periodic forecast updates consistent with business operating plans and requirements.
  • Guides the activities of the Quality Assurance and Supplier Assurance groups to ensure compliance with applicable cGMPs, GLP and HACCP, and all relevant quality standards.
  • Oversees the quality evaluation and approval of raw material suppliers and contract manufacturers and outside laboratories.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a BS degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or related sciences.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • American Society of Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality preferred
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor preferred.
  • Requires eight to twelve years’ experience in dietary supplement, food or pharmaceutical testing laboratory operations that includes a minimum of five years managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a collaborative environment with a positive leadership style and a hands-on approach that emphasizes team work, influencing, motivating, and consensus building
  • A strategic thinker with strong business acumen
  • A critical thinker with strong deductive reasoning and decision making skills
  • A comprehensive knowledge of chemical and microbial analysis, manufacturing operations, sanitation, GMP’s and GLP’s and the theories and general principles behind them.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of compliance with cGMP regulations, Food, Dietary Supplement and Drug laws and federal and state safety requirements.  .
  • An understanding of laboratory equipment such as HPLC, ICP, Spectrophotometer, GC, FTIR and dissolution apparatus.
  • An understanding and experience with all relevant microbiological testing, methods development/validation and environmental monitoring programs required to meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel

Responsible for administrative duties in our QC Analytical Laboratory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Receive and process incoming samples
  • Log data, file required documentation, organize and track sample testing
  • Maintain tracking and metrics for all testing
  • Order and stock laboratory supplies and maintain chemical inventory
  • Perform daily calibrations of lab equipment
  • Prepare chemical reagents as needed for lab staff
  • Track and dispose of hazardous chemicals
  • Assists with laboratory cleaning, organization, and safety initiatives

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's degree in Chemistry or a related degree
  • 1– 2 years of laboratory experience or related administrative experience  
  • A working knowledge of Word, Excel and database applications 
  • Ability to prioritize and plan multiple activities with varying deadlines and complexity
