Introduction
You don’t need another grim stat to know the plastic problem is real. We’ve all seen the headlines. Instead of focusing on the problem, let’s talk solutions.
The vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS) aisle is full of bright, bold bottles. Most of them are made of single-use plastic. Why? It’s cheap, lightweight, and durable. But it also contributes to a growing global crisis, one that often hits communities hardest where resources are already stretched thin.
At MegaFood, we believe real change begins with owning our impact. As a Certified B Corporation™, we are committed to doing better for people and the planet. While we are actively working to reimagine our packaging, we are also taking meaningful action right now.
We are proud to be the first B Corp VMS brand in North America to achieve Plastic Neutral Certification through rePurpose Global. This means that for every pound of plastic our products generate, rePurpose recovers an equal amount of verified plastic waste from the environment.
Since 2022, we have helped recover more than 646,058 lbs of plastic waste - 697,738,095 straws, 16,280,556 bottles, and 48,841,667 shopping bags.
Even more importantly, this work supports four rePurpose Impact Projects in India and Indonesia, helping improve income and working conditions for more than 2000 waste workers through safer environments and fairer wages.
What's Next for Our Packaging
We know that offsetting is only the beginning. That’s why we’ve assembled a cross-functional packaging committee to evaluate and develop more sustainable solutions.
In 2024, we took meaningful steps to reduce our environmental impact by transitioning from virgin plastic labels to predominantly post-consumer recycled (PCR) paper and adding the How2Recycle® logo to our product labels to help guide responsible disposal. Looking ahead, by 2026 we plan to introduce PCR plastic for many of our gummies. Our long-term goal is for 100% of our packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2030.
As a B Corp, we are committed to high standards of performance, accountability, and transparency. Packaging is a core part of that commitment.
Why It Matters
Being plastic neutral isn’t the end of our journey. It’s one important step in a much larger commitment to people, planet, and progress.
We will continue sharing our progress and pushing for better solutions—because you deserve transparency, and the planet deserves our best effort.

Plastic: The Bigger Picture
The plastic crisis is a serious challenge, but there are promising solutions on the horizon. One of the most exciting is the shift toward a circular economy for plastics - an approach that redesigns the entire system to keep plastic in use and out of the environment. By rethinking how products are made, used, and disposed of, a circular economy aims to reduce waste, conserve resources, and drive innovation.
According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, embracing a circular model for plastics by 2040 could:
- Cut the amount of plastic entering the ocean by 80%
- Reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 25%
- Save $200 billion every year
- Create 700,000 net additional jobs
This forward-thinking approach offers a path to not just less plastic pollution, but a healthier, more sustainable future. Join us on the path to rethinking plastic and share your ideas with us as we work to improve our sustainability in packaging!
