Planet-First Commitments

At MegaFood, we believe that the power of plants can nurture the health of people and the planet, and we are actively working to make our planet healthier for generations to come.

From our high standards of social and environmental performance, to improving how we source, make, a deliver our products, we are consistently working to make a positive impact on people and the planet. Our 1% for the Planet membership helps us do exactly that.

1% for the Planet Member

1% for the Planet is one of the most globally recognized environmental certifications with over 5,000 business members and 7,000 environmental partners and was founded on the idea that a company has a responsibility to give back for use of the planet’s resources.

MegaFood prioritizes practices that reduce its environmental footprint and we have embedded sustainability goals into all aspects of our business, from the ingredients we source to the packaging in which we deliver their products. By donating 1% of annual sales, we can maximize the impact that we have with those partners dedicated to working on social and environmental solutions to grow a healthy world.

Our Impact

In 2023 alone, we gifted $1.2 million in financial donations, product donations, sponsorships, and grants to like-minded organizations that are helping to create a healthier planet.

As MegaFood continues to grow, so does our ability to support issues and organizations aligned with our mission.

Soil Carbon Accrual Project

The Soil Carbon Accrual Project (SCAP), led by the Center for Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Systems of California
State University, Chico, is a collaboration of scientists and farmers coming together to measure the effect of regenerative agriculture on soil carbon and other variables using flux tower technology.

Our Partnership

With MegaFood’s support, this three-year study aims to accurately evaluate how regenerative agriculture will support carbon sequestration, along with water efficiency, farmer profit margins, and overall soil health. Learnings from this study could provide a basis for far-reaching policy changes needed to ensure a climate resilient future.
