Glyphosate was always a bad idea. Now it’s time to ban it.

MegaFood is certified glyphosate residue free. But, what about your food?

Glyphosate.

It’s hard to pronounce, and harder to avoid. But what is glyphosate? And, do you really need to add it to your already-too-long list of worries?

If you’re already in the know, we invite you to sign our petition to ban glyphosate for good. If you’ve yet to unpack just how glyphosate plays a role in our food system, read on.

Glyphosate (Gly-pho-sate) is a chemical in Monsanto’s signature herbicide, Roundup. Yes- weed killer. It’s used in parks, playgrounds, gardens, farmlands… everywhere. And in addition to being used as weed killer, glyphosate is also sprayed directly on some crops as a desiccant, which dries them up faster for a speedy harvest. That’s great in terms of food production efficiency, but it also means there’s a good chance glyphosate residue is in the the food you and your family eat every day.

Why is this so concerning?

Glyphosate isn’t selective- it’s designed to kill. This means it doesn’t just attack weeds, but it also wipes out the healthy microbes in our soil, which are essential to the presence of nutrients in our food. If that’s not bad enough, the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic in humans” and it’s use may be linked to lymphoma.¹ Not good.

It’s time to round down on Roundup

The good news is: A growing number of countries are restricting or planning an outright ban on this dangerous chemical. But the not so great news? Here in the US, glyphosate use has skyrocketed in the last decade- so much that it’s now the number one herbicide used. This is unacceptable. So, what can we do?

It starts with clean supplements

At MegaFood, we’re obsessed with quality, purity and safety. Since we make premium vitamins and supplements with real food and added nutrients, we felt it was incredibly important to certify our entire line as Glyphosate Residue Free- and we’re the first supplement brand to do so. How? Third-party certification guru The Detox Project has evaluated our products against their rigorous standards, and now gives the head-nod that guarantees our premium supplements are free of glyphosate residue. This seal is the proof, and you’ll see it right on our product labels.

We think it’s a great start. But there’s an entire food system out there that needs our help… and yours.

Nutrition with ambition

We’re urging the US government to stop protecting Monsanto’s bottom line, and to start protecting our families -and our food- first. We’ve begun by petitioning the EPA to ban glyphosate as a harvest desiccant for oats. You can join our mission by adding your name to the list that’s tens of thousands of signatures strong, and growing.

For us, being the change we wish to see in the world means working to revolutionize and regenerate our nation’s farming system. Good nutrition shouldn’t be a luxury. Everyone deserves access healthy foods, grown without the use of herbicides like glyphosate. We hope you’ll join us. Because together, we can change the world, starting with food.
