5 ways to support your immune health

This winter, take care of yourself first (#SELFCARE) so that you can take care of your family and friends. Below are some quick and easy ways to bring down your stress level and get back to soaking in that winter joy.

1. Create a Ritual

Rituals can be comforting to the mind and body, and some predictability can be a good thing when it comes to our health, especially when times are stressful. A ritual can be as simple as mediation each morning when you wake, or a warm mug of tea and a good book each evening before bed. Find something comforting, and make a point to prioritize it daily. This is YOUR time.

2. Don’t Skimp on Sleep

Allowing our body time to rest and restore is so important in maintaining a healthy response to stress, as well as a strong immune system.* Experts recommend 7-8 hours of restful sleep each night, and going to sleep and waking at the same time each day can help!

3. Get Moving

It may be cooler out, and perhaps the sun isn’t out quite so much, but the more you can get out and get moving, the more favors you’re doing for your health. Exercise, in addition to being incredibly important for our physical health, plays a big role in our mental health. Exercise releases feel-good hormones that help to mitigate stress.*

4. Get Friendly with Adaptogens

Adaptogens are botanicals that help the body respond, or adapt, to stress.* Consider a supplement with Ashwagandha, like our B-UnStressed™ or enjoy our Sweet Beet Surprise Smoothie (rich in turmeric and ginger) to get your day started.

5. Consider Supplements

Sometimes we can’t do it all on our own, and that’s okay. If you’re feeling stressed, run-down, and like you’re one handshake away from contracting the latest batch of the sniffles, let MegaFood help! Below are a list of products that can help you in the good fight of Winter Wellness. Click the links to learn more about each!

Vitamin C - The ole standby. Vitamin C has long been an immune-supportive favorite, and it gets even better when it’s delivered with oranges from our trusted farm partners.*

Vitamin D3 - Getting adequate vitamin D3 is tricky even in the sunniest of locales. Toss short days, long nights, and cold temperatures, and the likelihood of getting enough throughout the winter months is slim. Vitamin D3 plays many roles in the body, including supporting a healthy immune response.*

Probiotics - What don’t probiotics do? In addition to supporting healthy digestion, they also play a big role in our immune-function.*

Zinc - Healthy immune system: step this way, please! It’s so important to get enough zinc, which supports over 100 different enzyme functions in the body, including healthy tissue development and wound recovery after everyday wear-and-tear.* MegaFood® Zinc does just that*, and is delivered with our Nourishing Food Blend (including organic spinach, organic parsley leaf, and organic broccoli —let’s hear it for the greens!) for added trace minerals. Even better, it can be taken any time of the day, even on an empty stomach.

Immune Defense - When the temperature starts to drop it’s important to make sure your immune system doesn't! Immune Defense* is made with FoodState® Vitamin C, Zinc and Black Elderberry, together with bitter and phytonutrient-rich herbs, including echinacea and andrographis. When you feel the need, take two tablets three times per day for five days. Your immune system will thank you for the support!*

Adrenal Support- The connection between stress and immune function is clear. FoodState Nutrients and adaptogenic botanicals join forces in Adrenal Strength to better help your body cope with the stress of, well, stress.*

Another basic to overall wellness, during the winter months or year-round, is a multivitamin. Want to one that suits your unique needs? We have age and gender-specific choices, plus alternative forms like powders and chews! Find your multi.
